“Orange Is The New Black” Announces Series Will End
The highly popular Netflix series, “Orange is the New Black,” has just need announced the series would be ending after the approaching season seven. The news was released via the official the series’ official social media accounts on Wednesday (October 17th). In a compilation video with series regular spoke candidly about their experience(s) while working on the show, and what fans can expect in the final season.

The series creator, Jenji Kohan released a statement about bringing things to a close,
After seven seasons, it’s time to be released from prison I will miss all the badass ladies of Litchfield and the incredible crew we’ve worked with. My heart is orange but fade to black.

Since the series premiere in 2013, the dramedy has earned 12 Primetime Emmy nominations including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Writing for a Comedy Series, and Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series. Cindy Holland, the Vice President of Original Content at Netflix reacted to the finale,
During production of Season 1, everyone involved with Orange Is The New Black felt like we knew a special secret we couldn’t wait to share with the world. Since then, we have laughed, cried, raged, and roared with the women of Litchfield, and every moment spent with them felt like borrowed time — too good to last forever. We will be sad to say goodbye but we will definitely be going out on a high. We are grateful to Jenji Kohan and her groundbreaking vision; to her supremely talented team of writers and producers; and to a once-in-a-lifetime cast and crew for creating a truly special work of art that has inspired conversations and connected audiences around the world.

OITNB is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir Orange Is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison, released in 2010.Some season regulars include, Uzo Aduba who plays Suzanne ‘Crazy Eyes’ Warren, Danielle Brooks, who plays Tasha ‘Taystee’ Jefferson, Dascha Polanco who plays Dayanara Diaz, and the lead character Piper Chapman, played by Taylor Schilling.
The web series’ seventh season is slated to return for it’s final season during the summer of 2019.
