New England Patriots Officially Sign Antonio Brown To $15 Million Deal For 1 Year
In a matter of six months, NFL star Antonio Brown has signed with three different NFL teams this year, just hours prior to the 2019-2020 season opener. On Monday (Sept. 9th), the 2018 Super Bowl champions, New England Patriots announced they have officially signed 7-time Pro Bowler to a 1-year/$15 million contract, following his fall out with the Oakland Raiders. The team welcomed the decorated receiver on Instagram, posting his image and adding the caption,
“Welcome to New England.”

As far as Brown and his unpredictable actions, the Patriots added a guarantee of $20 million if and only if the receiver can execute on and off the field, according to reports.
“Patriots added an option year for Antonio Brown in 2020 at $20 million which becomes guaranteed if executed, per source. It was done to help for cap proration purposes this season.”

The 31-year-old NFL star took in his newly signed deal on Instagram on Monday (Sept. 9th), sharing a few hilarious animated posts. In one photo, a cartoon image of the receiver rocking a fresh New England Patriots hat to the back, awaits a bus that was occupied head coach Bill Belichick as the driver. The animated of Brown says,
“My ride is here!”

In recent weeks, Brown has felt like a villain in the media following his altercation with his former Oakland Raiders general manager, Mike Mayock. Things spun out of control after Mayock disciplined the star receiver with several fines for missing a team practice and activities. Their altercation was so intense, Brown allegedly called the Mayock a racial slur,
“The Raiders source confirmed information from another league source who said Brown called Mayock a “cracker” and unleashed a barrage of “cuss words” during the altercation.”
Brown posted his displeasure of recent fines on social media writing,
“When your own team want to hate but there’s no stopping me now. Devil is a lie. Everyone got to pay this year so we clear.”

After his drama concluded with the Raiders, Brown shared an image that sums up his short tenor with the team. He writes,
“No weapons formed against me shall prosper.”

Patriots future hall of famer coach, Bill Belichick touched on signing Brown in a recent interview. Belichick says,
“Yeah, we’re glad to have him on the team and we’ll just take it day by day and see how it goes. I mean everybody is different. So you add a new player to your team you look at what you need to do and try to do the best you can to get him caught up. So that’s what we’ll do.”
