Jennifer Lopez Wants Super Bowl Halftime Show “To Bring Everybody Together”
While Jennifer Lopez sparked controversy when she was named one of two halftime performers for the 2020 Super Bowl (Shakira will also hit the stage), she said she plans to use her moment for good.

J. Lo, Shakira
During an interview, Lopez said considering the political climate, it’s a big deal for two Latin women to be named the performers for the epic show.
“I am excited. I’m putting it together now. Me and Shakira together. We’re both excited to have been given the opportunity to do that, as two Latin women, in Miami.”
She added,
“I think it’s important in this day and age for two Latin women to be standing on that stage — when Latinos are being treated a certain way in this country, or looked at a certain way — to show that we have a really specific and beautiful culture and worth and value, and we bring something to this country that’s necessary.”
She said she hopes their performance will serve as a celebration for everyone.
“I think that’s going to be an amazing moment. That night, I want it to be a celebration of who we are. All of us, because we’re in this together.”
“That’s how I feel. I want to bring everybody together in that moment.”
And if you ask her future husband, Alex Rodriguez, J. Lo has been working tirelessly for her big moment.
He said on Nov. 6,
“She’s already been rehearsing for six weeks. It’s been a dream of hers her whole life. I mean who doesn’t wanna play at the Super Bowl, right? She’s been close a few times, and when we got that call from Roger Goodell and the league and Jay-Z, we were thrilled. She was in tears.”
