Trina Compares Looters In Miami To ‘Animals Off The Street Acting Like They Escaped The Zoo’, Gets Major Backlash
Rapper and reality star Trina is facing backlash over comments she made recently during her Trick & Trina Morning Show on 99 Jamz.
While on air, Trina, born Katrina Laverne Taylor, made it clear that she’s not a supporter of the looting that has been taking place across the nation due to the wrongful death of George Floyd. When speaking on the curfew that’s been put in place in Miami, Trina said:
“They need to make the curfew from 6 pm to 6 am. That’s how I feel. Keep everybody off of the streets. These animals off the streets that are running around in Miami Dade County acting like they have escaped from the zoo. Lock them up at 5 pm so the streets can be nice and clean.”

Her co-host, rapper Trick Daddy tried to explain to Trina that most businesses that have been damaged during the protest will be okay because the owners should have insurance. However, Trina didn’t seem happy with that response. She continued,
“We can’t bring back nobody life that has been taken away rather it was from the police or the hands of another civilian. We can not bring them back. We can not. You can not pump life back into them at all. I can’t bring back my little brother’s life, his life was taken by the hands of a man, a black man. I can’t bring his life back. So, what are you saying? Cause I’m ready today. Today – I’m ready today! I am ready today, Miami. Today is the day. That’s what we’re talking about.”
Trick Daddy tried to calm Trina down and said
“We’re not talking about that. We’re talking about black lives that matter…”
However, his statement seemed to be cut off by Trina before he could finish and she continued on with her rant
“The black lives that matter right? The same black lives that are taken from the hands of other black people – those matter too, huh?”
Trick Daddy attempted to interject his opinion into the conversation again but Trina continued to talk over him and said.
“A life is a life. Period. Period. A life is a life – no matter how it was taken. Whether it was a car accident, whether it was from a police, whether it was from the hands of another black man. A life was taken. Simple!”
Trina also gave her opinion on the Minneapolis police officer who is responsible for killing George Floyd.
“Fired Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin has been arrested and charged with 3rd-degree murder. 3rd-degree murder and manslaughter. 3rd-degree murder means a homicide committed with the intention of causing bodily harm but not necessarily death. If convicted he could get 25 years in prison or a murder charge up to 10 years in prison for manslaughter. And that’s supposed to justify everything, right? Are you gonna put him in a death chair? Cause otherwise all the rest of the stuff ya’ll doing don’t make sense to me. That’s what I’m saying.”
Trick Daddy tried again to explain to Trina that the looting shouldn’t overshadow from the overall message of the protesting and that black people shouldn’t be afraid of the police. Trina responded to him and said
“I’m never scared. I have my license and registration and insurance. I’m not scared. I know my rights.”
