Solange Knowles Demands L.A Mayor To Fire Police Chief After His George Floyd Comments
Singer Solange Knowles is not impressed with the mayor of L.A’s recent statements. The mayor tweeted a statement where adressed LAPD Chief Michael Moore’s recent comments.
Chief Moore sparked controversy after he said protestors are just as responsible for George Floyd’s death as the officers involved. He stated:
“His [George Floyd’s] death is on their hands, as much as it is those officers. And that is a strong statement, but I must say that this civil arrest that we are in the midst of, we must turn a corner from the people who are involved in violence. People who are involved in preying upon others. The actions last night I am encouraged for Los Angeles, but I am discouraged for Santa Monica, and Long Beach”

L.A. Mayor Eric Garcetti said Chief Moore regretted his recent comments.
The statement that made social media and Solange Knowles call for his firing was when
Chief Moore also later apologized in a statement:
“During a press conference earlier today, I misspoke when making a statement about those engaging in violent acts following the murder of Mr. George Floyd.
“While I did immediately correct myself, I recognize that my initial words were terribly offensive. Looting is wrong, but it is not the equivalent of murder and I did not mean to equate the two.
“I deeply regret and humbly apologize for my characterization.
“Let me be clear: the police officers involved were responsible for the death of Mr. George Floyd.”
Still, Solange Knowles was not happy with the mayor’s response and tweeted the following,
“Nah @MayorOfLA “clarify” this by firing his a** ! Black ppl don’t get the benefit of regret. Fire him!”
