Logic Slams Joe Budden, Says That His Criticism “Makes People Want To Kill Themselves”
Rapper Logic opened up in a recent interview about some of the critical comments that he’s received from rapper turned podcast personality Joe Budden. Logic says that he’s personally never met Joe or watched his podcast because he didn’t want to,
“subject myself to that s**t personally. So I didn’t see the apology, I also didn’t see his review of the album or any of this and I literally have no issue with Joe Budden. I’ve never met him, I don’t know him, I’ve never shaken his hand, we’ve never had a conversation as men. This is what he does, he doesn’t rap anymore, he speaks on the culture and this and that and that’s cool I’m not in control of this guy. This dude doesn’t like me for whatever reason, he wants to say I’m not black enough, I’n not good enough. He’s a person who’s led to part of my depression, some of my darkest spaces, and he could take that however he wants. Bro, your words they make people want to kill themselves and that’s a real thing to be strong enough to understand that’s not the end all be all and other people aren’t the end all be all.”
The critique that Logic was responding to was an episode of Joe Budden’s podcast from July 20, where the ‘Pump It Up’ rapper shared his thoughts on Logic announcing his retirement from hip hop after his next album, so that he could solely focus on fatherhood.
Joe did not hold back from expressing how he truly felt about the 30 year old’s retirement announcement and said,
“Logic, you don’t get to announce this. What the f**k is he talking about? ‘Cause we don’t care.”
When his podcast co hosts tried to convince Joe that Logic’s fans will care about the Maryland rapper retiring, Joe harshly stated,
“No, they don’t. They happy that he’s leaving. Why you think I got the f***ing celebration song queued up, man? Let’s celebrate Logic getting the f**k outta here, n***a. You should’ve retired a long time ago, Logic.”
Joe Budden also said about Logic,
“Logic, you are easily one of the worst rappers to ever grace a microphone, I’ma be honest with you, I don’t know what they telling you at Def Jam. I know you sold a lot of records. I know you sell out a whole bunch of tours and I know how successful you are. I have to be honest, you are horrible, man.”
However, the podcast host apologized to Logic on the July 25 episode of his show,
“Logic, I’m sorry man. Log, let me tell you what happened…Log, last week I came in here feeling pretty tumultuous. Fresh out of Twitter jail, unable to properly read the room and just hating myself and life, honestly. And unfortunately, I projected some of that onto you, Log. And, for that, I want to apologize.”
However, after Logic’s interview, Joe took to his Twitter today (August 1) to state the following about the Maryland native,
“Logic is reverse bullying me lol”
