Melania Trump Was Surprised Anna Wintour Put Beyonce On The Cover Of VOGUE
According to reports, First Lady Melania Trump was surprised when Beyonce landed the cover of VOGUE. Reportedly, in a secretly recorded conversation, Melania Trumpwas heard on a call stating:
“Anna gave the September issue of Vogue cover — complete, complete, complete, everything — to Beyoncé.”

Anna Wintour
The “Anna” Melania Trump was referring to was Anna Wintour, Vogue’s editor in chief. The recording was released by Stephanie Winston Wolkoff, a former Whitehouse aide and past friend to Melania Trump. The two discussed the September 2018 issue of Vogue where Beyonce was featured on the cover.

Trump expressed her shock:
“She hired Black photographer”
she told Wolkoff. She added,
“And it’s the first Black photographer ever doing cover of Vogue.”
Melania’s spokesperson did comment on the recordings, though did not mention the Beyonce issue in particular saying:
“These audio tapes are hand-picked about nonsense and presented with no context. Shame on her for this continued attempt at character assassination and shame on NBC for covering this gossip.”

The September issue of Vogue is touted as one of the most prolific and highly-coveted issues of the year. In 2018, the issue was even more groundbreaking because of the black woman on the cover and her artistic direction behind her feature.

Tyler Mitchell
The feature was shot by Tyler Mitchell, a black photographer chosen by Beyoncé. She was also given complete creative control and penned her own essay with her own topics for the story, instead of a traditional interview.
While Melania Trump has been featured in Vogue several times previously, she has yet to obtain a spot in the famous magazine since her husband became the President.
