Lena Waithe’s Wife Alana Mayo Files For Divorce

According to court documents, Lena Waithe’s wife Alana Mayo has filed for divorce 10 months after the couple announced their separation. Alana filed a petition for divorce in Los Angeles Superior Court earlier this week. The pair dated for three years before secretly tying the knot. Lena Waithe revealed they were married in November 2019.

In January 2020,  Lena and Alana chose to go their separate ways just two months after the couple announced they were married. The separation came amid reports that Lena Waithe cheated. They released a joint statement to PEOPLE Wednesday (Jan. 22):

“After careful thought and consideration, we have decided to part ways. We have nothing but support for one another and ask that you respect our privacy during this time.”

Reports surfaced that Lena Waithe was allegedly dating “Harriet” actress Cynthia Erivo. In fact, they allegedly live together. Back in May, the rumored couple were spotted on their own Instagram Story. Both ladies posted photos while watching singer Erykah Badu‘s online concert, seemingly in the same home theater room, decorated with starry skylights and bean bags.

Lena Waithe and Cynthia Erivo were reportedly linked after being spotted at several red carpet events together. Although they have yet to confirm if they are in a relationship, they’ve had nothing but kind words to say about each other publicly.
