Tiger Woods Gets Rod, Screws & Pin In Right Leg After Serious Car Accident
Tiger Woods’ road to recovery continues after the pro-golfer was involved in a serious accident Tuesday, Feb. 23rd.
According to new reports, doctors are working on repairing his right leg after his bone shattered in at least two places amid the collision. Dr. Anish Mahajan, Chief Medical Officer at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center, said in a statement Wednesday morning, Feb. 24th:
“Mr. Woods suffered significant orthopedic injuries to his right lower extremity that were treated during emergency surgery by Orthopaedic trauma specialists. Comminuted open fractures affecting both the upper and lower portions of the tibia and fibula bones were stabilized by inserting a rod into the tibia.
He added that “a combination of screws and pins” were used as Tiger Woods also suffered serious injuries in his ankle and foot.
He continued,
“Trauma to the muscle and soft-tissue of the leg required surgical release of the covering of the muscles to relieve pressure due to swelling.”
While there are reports that both of Tiger Woods’ legs were injured in the crash, the doctor only referenced his right leg.
Tiger Woods’ team released a statement Tuesday night (Feb. 23rd) and said he was “awake, recovering, and responsive.”
According to reports, the legendary golf star had to be extracted from his sports-utility vehicle as it sustained “major damage” following a single-vehicle rollover traffic crash.
He was the only occupant of the SUV and was transported to Harbor-UCLA Medical Center by ambulance to be treated for “moderate to critical” injuries suffered in the crash. His injuries are not life-threatening, and it is believed he was conscious at the time he was extracted from the vehicle.
Reportedly, he was reportedly “traveling at a high rate of speed” when he “lost control of the vehicle before crossing the center divider” with his SUV rolling multiple times.\
Continued prayers for a speedy recovery for Tiger Woods!
