Karrueche Tran Makes History With Emmy Award Win, 1st AAPI To Win Lead Actress Emmy
Karrueche Tran just won an Emmy and made history doing it!
She won the award for Outstanding Performance By A Lead Actress In A Daytime Fiction Program at the 2021 Daytime Emmy Awards ceremony last night (July 18th). She was recognized for her performance as Vivian Johnson-Garrett on Popstar! TV’s “The Bay.”
Karrueche Tran is now the first Asian and Pacific Islander to win a Daytime or Primetime Emmy for lead actress.
She was clearly shocked about her win and began her speech with,
“I can’t even talk.”
She added,
“I’m so thankful and so blessed and so grateful. Thank you to the Academy and to the other nominees.”
She acknowledged her loved ones “who have always supported me” before thanking her “The Bay” co-stars “who have believed in me since day one when nobody did at all.”
