Torrei Hart Stands By Her Decision To Keep Ex-Husband Kevin Hart’s Last Name

Torrei Hart isn’t changing her last name anytime soon.

She and actor Kevin Hart married in 2003 and their divorce was finalized in 2011. The exes share two children: Heaven, 16, and Hendrix, 14.

Torrei Hart recently explained why she still has his name despite their decade-old divorce. She said earlier this month,

“‘Cause it’s mine, first of all. Second of all, ’cause Kevin never asked for it back — he don’t want [me] to give it back, he’s not trippin’.”

She added,

“And third of all: my kids don’t want me to change my name.”

Torrei Hart went on to say,

“That’s something that people always ask me and I’m like: That’s my name — get over it! They’re gonna always have something to say, but I’m gonna be a Hart until I decide not to be. And that’s just what it is.”

She also addressed whether she thinks having the same last name as Kevin Hart gives her a larger chance at success.

“I don’t think so, because you can have a name, but if you’re not doing the work, what good is the name?”

“I do the work, I hustle every single day. So I can have the Hart name all day, but if I’m sitting on my a** and not working, you think people are gonna give me opportunity? I get opportunity because I get out there; I network, I’ve been training, I put in the word — Like ‘Yo, this project looks like it could fit me.’ Like, I hustle.”

She went on to joke for Kevin Hart to promote what she’s working on before referencing the Tesla he promised her in his Netflix special Zero F***s Given.

“Yeah Kevin! You know what time it is — plug my projects! I’m coming for you, ’cause you ain’t never given me my Tesla!”

“I haven’t went over these jokes with my ex-wife yet. I just wanna let you guys know. These jokes are going to come with a price tag attached to it. Probably have to buy her a Tesla truck or something.”

Torrei added,

“He still likes to use me, ’cause I’m funny as s***. So I’m still part of your life — plug my stuff! America: tell him I said plug my stuff. Y’all go spam his page and tell him: ‘Plug Torrie’s stuff.'”

She ended by saying their kids “gotta eat!”
