Ex-Boston Red Sox Player David “Big Papi” Ortiz & Wife Tiffany Announce Divorce, Ending 25-Year Marriage
David Oritz and his wife Tiffany are at the end of the line.
Former Boston Red Sox player David “Big Papi” Ortiz and his wife of 25 years, Tiffany, have announced their divorce.
Tiffany Ortiz took to Instagram to inform her followers that their chapter together has come to a close. Her post read:
“Over the past 25 years, David and I have shared a beautiful adventure in love and partnership.”
She continued:
“We have made the decision to go into a new phase of our life journey together, not as a couple, but as friends and co-parents to our amazing children.”

The pair started dating in 1996, just one year before David Ortiz began playing for the Minnesota Twins. They later married in 2002.
Although the marriage managed to last two decades, they’ve had trouble in the past. David filed for divorce in 2013, telling MLB.com:
“There are some situations in life that work out for a period of time and at some point they don’t work out anymore and you have to move on. I’m moving on. She’s moving on. Hopefully everybody respects that.”
After one year apart, they were able to salvage their marriage. At the time, Tiffany said:
“We separated for a while. We did, but we missed each other terribly.”

Tiffany and David have two children together: a son, D’Angelo, 17, and a daughter, Alexandra, 20. David has one daughter, 25-year-old Jessica Ortiz from a previous relationship.
