Nicki Minaj Responds To Critics Who Accused Her Of “Invalidating” Coi Leray’s Experience Dealing With Hate, Explains Why She Kept The Video Posted Despite Backlash
Nicki Minaj responds to those upset by her comments made during a live video.
Rapper Coi Leray welcomed the “tough love” advice given to her by rap icon Nicki Minaj, despite many fans feeling as though the “Super Bass” rapper attempted to invalidate Coi’s experience dealing with haters.
While promoting their recent collaboration song “Blick Blick”, 39-year-old rap vet Nicki Minaj and 24-year-old breakout artist Coi Leray got personal. The two artists discussed their new song, sexuality, and how to deal with haters among other things.
On the topic of dealing with hate, Coi expressed her experience and frustrations, to which the “Do We Have A Problem” artist responded:
“Y’all have just experienced some of the growing pains of artistry and of social media. Y’all be thinking y’all have experienced hate and trust me, ya ain’t experienced it yet.”
She continued:
A lot of y’all have gotten, not coddled, people have been nice. People have been gentle with y’all.”
Nicki goes on to explain to Coi that she can’t focus on the hate, as it just comes with being great in the music industry. However social media users quickly accused the rap giant of attempting to invalidate Coi’s experience.
Since, Nicki has responded to critics via multiple tweets, jokingly telling followers next time she’ll say:
“yea btch it was bad for you, it only gets worse! It never gets better, get out while you can! It’s ruining your life btch!”
Then continuing, explaining how talented she believes Coi is, and referencing a life changing moment her mother had given her tough love following a failed acting audition:
