Trick Daddy Clarifies ‘Beyoncé Can’t Sing’ Comments: ‘I’m Talking About [On The Same Level As] Whitney Houston & Adele’
It’s not every day you hear someone say Beyoncé can’t sing, and Trick Daddy is clarifying exactly what he meant when he made such remarks in the past.
During an April 13 appearance on The Breakfast Club (hosted by Charlamagne tha God, Angela Yee and DJ Envy), Trick Daddy said,
“Here’s the thing, I wasn’t saying that Beyoncé can’t sing. Because I’ve known Beyoncé since they were 15 [or] 16. … I have a lot of love and respect [for her]. Beyoncé is a hell of an entertainer, but when I put singers in a category, I’m talking about Whitney Houston … Adele … Shirley Murdock … Stephanie Mills … Jennifer Hudson.”
He continued,
“Out of the 10 female R&B singers that came out in the last five years, five of them sound alike. … The HER’s, SZA, Jhene Aiko, I can close my eyes and not know who they are. That don’t mean that I don’t like them, that don’t mean I don’t like their talent, but if I had to a pull a top 10 [or] a top five, I wouldn’t mention them.”

As previously reported, the “Thug Holiday” rapper got the bee-hive buzzed up when he straight up said “Beyoncé can’t sing” on Clubhouse last year. In fact, his recent remarks seem to be a complete backtrack of what he said previously. In the past, he said,
“Beyoncé ain’t trying to get back into music and nothin’ like that. Beyoncé don’t write music, and barely can sing her motherf***ing stuff–Beyoncé can’t sing! Man, I watched my godmama train Beyoncé–give her vocal lessons all her career.”

Trick Daddy also came for Jay-Z at the time saying,
“Imma pop an opinion right now: Beyoncé is to R&B what Jay-Z is to New York. That’s why they together. Jay-Z ain’t ever won the greatest rapper alive. Who ever put him on the level of that? New York lost Biggie, they needed a hero. They wanted to be the mecca of hip-hop, and they just handed it over to Jay-Z. You go back and you do the history of record deals and all that. Man, DMX was doing 10-15 million an album. Remember, Jay-Z changed his name 3-4 times.”
Trick Daddy continued his Breakfast Club interview by saying he never issued an apology for his remarks because he didn’t feel like he had to. He continued by sharing his unpopular opinions on comedian, saying he doesn’t find Katt Williams or Kevin Hart funny.
