R. Kelly Denied Request To Delay Trial By 3 Months, Court Conference Call Hearing Was A ‘Complete Mess’ With People Swearing & Interrupting Says Reporter

R&B singer R. Kelly had his latest court motion denied by a judge.

According to reports, attorney’s for musician R. Kelly, born Robert Sylvester Kelly, had their request for a trial delay rejected by the court judge. R. Kelly, 55, has an active trial happening in Chicago on the charges of child pornagrphy and obstruction of justice.

Reportedly, attorney’s for the “Ignition” artist asked the presiding judge to push back the August 1st start date, due to the “exorbitant amount of material to digest” as the singers new legal representation. Kelly made headlines for firing his entire legal team back in February, and hiring the attorneys who represented TV icon Bill Cosby in his sexual assault case. However, the court judge denied the request, citing that the trial had already been moved too many times and needed to proceed stating:

“The problem is, this case has been delayed time and time again. This case is going to have to go to trial.”

An inside reporter covering the Kelly trial also reported juror disturbances during the court conference. In a series of tweets, the reporter described the session, presumably held via telephone, as “a total mess”, with people interrupting and swearing throughout the conference. The updates read:

“Awaiting the #RKelly status hearing and it is a total mess. There are dozens of people logging on without muting, laughing and chatting like they’re in their living room, interrupting other cases. Next time they may want to schedule Kelly’s case first?”

“There must have been hundreds of people on that call, judging by the number of beeps of people logging off.”

At one point, a women reportedly loudly disagreed with the judge’s ruling that Kelly would be denied his three month trial delay request:

“Oh my god are you serious,” a woman breaks in as the judge makes his ruling. “You can’t wait three more months??” This is followed by a cacophony of swearing and yelling by others on the call. Yep. This trial is going to be ….umm…..interesting.”

Kelly is currently being held in a New York federal prison after a jury found him guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking charges.  The singer’s N.Y. sentencing is set for June 15th.
