LeBron James is continuing to add to his business portfolio.
As previously reported, In 2018, NBA legend and philanthropist LeBron James, 37, opened the I PROMISE School, a public elementary school designed to champion at-risk students in his hometown of Akron, Ohio. Now LeBron James is turning his attention to providing those in that same community with adequate healthcare.
The LeBron James Family Foundation announced on Instagram that it is partnering with local healthcare institutions to develop a medical center in Akron. The Foundation shared a statement on the exciting news that reads,
“When our families expressed a need for more health care services… we went to work. Today, we’ve come together with 3 organizations, @axesspointe, @colemanservices, & Peg’s Foundation to create I Promise HealthQuarters to offer a variety of services ALL under one roof.”

According to the released statement, the multimillion-dollar facility will sit within walking distance of the I PROMISE School and will provide medical, dental optometry, mental health, pharmaceutical, and lab services to all in the community. Michele Campbell, executive director of the LeBron James Family Foundation, also spoke on LeBron James’ latest endeavor and said,
“As we continue to listen and respond to what our families need, our work continues to expand in ways we never dreamed of.”
They continued,
“Access to affordable health care has always been a critical need for our families – and further heightened by the pandemic – so we began rallying our community to bring the experts together under one trusted roof. Being able to provide this important resource for the entire community is only possible because we have incredible partners that share our We Are Family philosophy.”

This news comes just days after LeBron James, who plays for the Los Angeles Lakers, officially became a billionaire, making him the first active player in NBA history to reach the billionaire’s club. LeBron James shared news of the upcoming medical facility on Twitter with the message:
“It takes a village to help raise a kid and make a true difference! Love my kids and their families!“

According to reports, the facility is scheduled to open sometime next year.
