Kim Kardashian Credits Ex-Husband Kanye West For ‘SKKN By Kim’ Brand Name and Packaging

Kim Kardashian may no longer be married to Kanye West, but his influence in her career remains.

Following the June 22 release of her new skincare line SKKN By Kim, which includes nine products, Kim Kardashian credited her ex-husband Kanye West for the design concept and brand name. She said,

“Of course, my creative process wouldn’t have been complete—and I always give credit where credit is due—without Kanye or Ye. He brought his team and introduced me to Willo [Perron, a designer] and came up with the new name. That was actually his idea. The packaging shapes were his and even the fonts he did, just like SKIMS.”

Kim Kardashian noted that she originally had a different idea in mind for her packaging. She said,

“When I tell you Kanye walked in the room and was like, ‘This is not it,’ and he was right. Packaging is definitely his thing.”

As previously reported, Kardashian made headlines on June 1 when she announced that SKKN By Kim was coming. Many people across social media called her out for, once again, seemingly copying a Black woman—this time Lori Harvey.

One Twitter user said,

“So Kim didn’t wanna steer away from sounding similar to an existing skincare brand called SKN by Lori Harvey?”

And the backlash, of course, didn’t stop there.

Lori Harvey launched SKN by LH, which offers five products, in October 2021.

Kim Kardashian and Kanye West married in 2013 and share four children: North, 8, Saint, 6, Chicago, 4, and Psalm, 2. Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021, citing “irreconcilable differences. She is now dating former “Saturday Night Live” star Pete Davidson.

While Kanye West has yet to grant a traditional divorce, the SKIMS founder was declared legally single by a judge in March of this year.
