Angel Brinks Shares Cardi B Hired Her As Her Designer After Watching Her Get ‘Bullied’ On ‘Basketball Wives’
During a recent interview with Tashara Jones’ Page Six, Angel Brinks, 39, revealed that Cardi B, 29, reached out to her and asked for her to come to Las Vegas to create an exclusive look her for the rapper’s first televised performance at the 2017 MTV Video Music Awards. Angel Brinks explained,
“I had so much fun with her. She knew at the time what happened with me on the show being bullied and attacked. She was telling me, ‘Girl, I hated watching that happening to you on TV. You deserve so much more respect.'”
Cardi B – who was a popular cast member of another VH1 show, “Love & Hip Hop” – ended up wearing a custom sparkling outfit designed by Angel Brinks for her performance at the VMAs, as well as a second outfit for her appearance at the Floyd Mayweather vs. Connor McGregor fight.
Angel Brinks says this was a big moment that she will always cherish. She explained,
“I will always remember that. It was her first very big performance and she came to me. So I just feel very blessed.”
After styling Cardi B, Brinks went on to design for other big Hollywood names such as; Heidi Klum, Missy Elliot, Lil Kim, Doja Cat, Saweetie and Megan Thee Stallion.
During season 4 of ‘Basketball Wives LA,‘ Angel Brinks had been picked on by her fellow castmates because they seemingly couldn’t take her seriously as a businesswoman and fashion designer, with many of the women often criticizing her fashion choices and style.
Angel Brinks first rose to fame when she began dating NBA star, Tyreke Evans–which is how she ended up on the reality show. The two welcomed their daughter, Amina Evans, in 2014, before ending their relationship a year later.
The reality TV star has a son from a previous marriage and is currently in a relationship with music producer and former “Love & Hip Hop: LA” star Roccstar.
Brinks is on the current season of “Basketball Wives” which airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on VH1.
