Evander Holyfield Says It’s ‘Too Late’ For Mike Tyson Exhibition Fight: I’m Done Now
It looks like the once potential Exhibition fight between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield is no longer happening!
You may recall, the two boxing legends were supposed to square up and have an exhibition in the spring of 2021, however, negotiations fell through and the two could not come to an agreement.
Evander Holyfield, 59, was recently spotted at LAX and when asked by sources if he would still be interested in going toe-to-toe with Mike Tyson, 56, Holyfield replied,
“It’s too late now.”

When asked if he’s owed a monetary amount from Mike Tyson’s ear-shaped weed gummies–which was inspired by the 1997 match in which Mike Tyson bit off part of Evander Holyfield’s ear– the 59-year-old former pro boxer said,
“No, It’s just a game plan that he came up with….It don’t matter.”

Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield had two famous bouts in 1996 and 1997, both in which Holyfield was declared the winner. However, it was the 1997 bout that went down in history and became one of the most controversial events in modern sports. During their fight, Mike Tyson bit Evander Holyfield’s ear and was disqualified. Their 1997 bout was the first heavyweight title fight in over 50 years to end in a disqualification.
Back in 2020, Mike Tyson came out of retirement for an exhibition match against fellow boxing veteran Roy Jones Jr. When asked if he would ever get back in the ring with Holyfield, Tyson said at the time,
“That’s always something that we can do if the people want it, if it’s pragmatic enough, I’d love to do it.”

That same year, Evander Holyfield also teased the idea of the two Heavyweights getting back in the ring for the third time. He even took to his Instagram to pose a question to his fans. He captioned the post,
“Who would like to see Holyfield vs Tyson 3? Or who else would you like to see me get in the ring with in an exhibition? #teamholyfield”

Unfortunately, it looks like the opportunity has since passed and fans may never see the two legends duke it again.
