Pusha T Says He’s Doesn’t Want To Be “Outdone” By Collaborators While Speaking On Intense Competition In The Music Industry + Teases New Music Feat. Kanye, Pharrell, & No I.D.

Rap star Pusha T is making sure he can face the lyrical best, even the ones he collaborates with.

During a recent interview, the 45-year-old musician opened up about the competitive music industry and how it effects his collaborations. Pusha T, real name Terrence LeVarr Thornton, has been in the rap game since the 90’s and remains a well known artist to date. However the Virginia native says that the industry is competitive, which – he admits – tends to make for better music.

After being asked to share details about his new music, Pusha stated:

I’m just working on some super special projects, man. Everyone I’m working with is feeling very competitive, trying not to be outdone. That just makes my job harder because I’m trying to outdo producers who are also great artists who are also great rappers and composers,”

He continued:

“That makes my battle twice as hard. But it makes for the best rap music.”

Pusha is currently on tour performing songs from his fourth studio album It’s Almost Dry, which debuted in April of this year. Football superstar Tom Brady hailed the project album of the year. The project features hip-hop stars such as Jay Z, Kid Cudi, and Lil Uzi Vert. Additionally featured on the record are two of Pusha’s frequent collaborators Kanye West and Pharrell. The two will seemingly be on his next project as well.

Following the interviewer asking is he’d be doing anymore music with West, who now goes by Ye, he responded:

“It’s definitely been with Ye. It’s definitely been with Pharrell. I’m going to tell you something. I’ve also been working with No I.D.”

Earlier this year, Pusha circulated headlines after dropping a McDonald’s diss track with Arby’s that raked in a reported $8 million profit for the company. The “Brambleton” artist shared that he owns 40% of the song, and gets paid every time it plays. Pusha says he’ll be continuing his partnership with the fast food giant for as long as it suits him.
