On Sunday (Oct. 2) Kenashia Douglas spoke candidly about dealing with domestic violence and how her desire to create a family made her accept abuse and stay in a terrible situation.

Douglas wrote in part:

“I thank GOD! My ancestors, angels and guides for pulling me through this Warzone alive! it was Toxic, and it was dangerous not only for obvious reasons but also because to the outside world everything seemed fine.. but those closest to us knew! But didn’t know how to help, It got to a point where the abuse was regular behavior, and I would fight back pick up whatever I could to protect myself..”

She continued,

My undying loyalty and strong desire to create my own family had me accepting things I never should have. I’ve been Punched, spat on, strangled, pushed to the ground. And been threatened with a [gun]…I look at these pictures and I hold grace and patience for the woman I was and everything she didn’t know! I love her and thank her for her role in my journey. I don’t consider myself a victim or a survivor, this is all apart of my story, my life and my journey.”

On Tuesday ( Oct.4) Kenashia spoke more about her healing and offered resources for various domestic violence foundations and shelters that may want to collaborate with her in the future.

As previously reported, Ashanti and her sister broke the news about her domestic violence experience last year.

During an interview with media personality Angie MartinezAshanti’s sister, Kenashia Douglas, shared the heartbreaking news that she was once a victim of domestic violence. She said,

“I’m not sure if everyone knows, or if you know, but I have a past experience with domestic abuse. I had my teeth broken.”

She continued and revealed that the abuse she was subjected to came from her ex-fiancé.

“I was engaged. [This] was… 3 years ago. It wasn’t that long ago.”

She added,

“This is literally my first time speaking on it publicly.”

When asked if they were aware the abuse was taking place Ashanti and her mother, Tina Douglas, both said,

“We were there!”

Ashanti was then asked how she handled seeing her younger sister in such a painful situation. She answered,

“It’s not good for me, you know. I’m not a violent person. But when you harm and disrespect someone that I love on this level then I turn into a different person. And I don’t condone violence, you know what I mean. But it took a lot for me to… not make that call, if you understand what I’m saying.”

Kenashia Douglas has taken her traumatic experience and turned it into something good. During the interview, she shared that she’s launched an organization, Wife Of Creation, dedicated to helping people grow and heal their ‘mind, body, and spirit.’

She added,

“Wife Of Creation, as I said, is an extension of my healing journey. So I’m basically offering resources for people.”

“It’s more so, mind, body, [and] spirit.”

It’s heavily speculated that Kenashia’s ex-fiance, hip-hop entrepreneur, Rodney “Bucks” Charlemagne, is responsible for the abuse she suffered from, but it has not been confirmed.
