On Monday (October 24), the “King Richard” star shared a pair of photos via Instagram that revealed the star-studded guest list for the private screening event. Attendees included Tyler Perry, Dave Chappelle, Rihanna, A$AP Rocky, and more! Will Smith thanked the entertainers for showing their support and captioned the post,
“EPIC night!! Thanx for coming to see #Emancipation. Hope ya’ll enjoyed!!”

Reportedly, the private event was also graced by the presence of “Black-ish” creator Kenya Barris, fashion designer Fawn, and Blacksmith Records co-founder Corey Smyth. The high-profile screening seemingly marks Smith’s first public celebrity appearance since his Oscars slap incident back in March.

As you may recall, shortly before winning the best-actor Oscar for “King Richard,” Smith walked onstage and slapped presenter Chris Rock after he made a bald joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith, who shaved her head because she has alopecia. Following the incident, Smith resigned from the Academy and was issued a 10-year ban from attending any Academy Award ceremonies.

“Emancipation” stars Smith as Peter, a man who escapes from slavery and sets out on a quest for freedom in Louisiana during the American Civil War. The film hits theaters on December 2 and will stream on Apple TV+ on December 9.
