XXXTentacion — Mother Of Rapper Ordered To Reveal How Much Money She’s Amassed Since His Death
The mother of XXXTentacion (real name Jahseh Dwayne Ricardo Onfroy) will have to disclose to the court how much money she received after her son’s death.
According to reports, Michael Boatwright‘s lawyer successfully argued that XXXTentacion‘s mother, Cleopatra Bernard, should be required to share the information at the forthcoming trial. Boatwright is one of the individuals suspected of taking part in the Florida rapper’s murder.
Judge Micheal Usan signed off on the request during a hearing for three of the four suspects — Boatwright, Dedrick Williams, and Trayvon Newsome — on Monday (Jan. 9).
Court records show that the attorney for XXXTentacion’s mother – attorney Robert H. Trachman – pushed back on the ruling for the financial information to be revealed, claiming that it’s “irrelevant and highly confidential.”
Treachman said,
“For the reasons set forth, below defendant has no entitlement to the discovery he seeks concerning the assets of Ms. Bernard because the discovery requested by the defendant is not relevant to any matters pending before this court.”
However, the judge ultimately decided to support Boatwright‘s legal team and sided in their favor.
The trial’s jury selection process is set to begin on Wednesday (Jan. 11). Robert Allen, the fourth suspect, agreed to a plea bargain in August of last year and has stated that he will testify against Boatwright, Williams, and Newsome.
As previously reported, XXXTentacion was reportedly ambushed by the men while leaving RIVA Motorsports on June 18, 2018. Witnesses claim that after the fatal shooting of the rapper, one of the men stole a Louis Vuitton bag from his car before leaving the scene.
A list of potential witnesses, which includes Drake, Quavo, 6ix9ine, and Joe Budden, was recently submitted by Williams‘ lawyers.
The list of potential witnesses appears to be filled with musicians who had some kind of tiff with X at one point or another. If you recall, the “SAD!” artist directly tagged Drake in a post months before his death, accusing the OVO CEO of stealing his flow and wanting him dead.
In a post shared on his Instagram Story, X said,
“IF ANYONE TRIED TO KILL ME IT WAS @champagnepapi, IM SNITCHING RN”
X later claimed that his account had been hacked.
Despite the witness list being submitted, there is the possibility the judge could deny the motion. Prosecutors in the case have reportedly objected to the list, stating:
“It is apparent from the deliberate, late disclosure of the defendant’s witnesses and comments made between the parties that [the] defendant intended to ‘surprise’ the state and create a trial by ambush.”
