Shannon Sharpe Issues Apology For His Involvement In Dispute w/ Memphis Grizzlies Players: I Turned The Temperature Up, & I Let It Get Out Of Hand
Shannon Sharpe is apologizing following an altercation that took place during Friday night’s Memphis Grizzlies vs. Los Angeles Lakers basketball game.
During Halftime, Hall of Fame football player Shannon Sharpe had a heated altercation with Memphis Grizzlies players Ja Morant and Dillon Brooks and Morant’s father, Tee Morant. Referees and arena security had to intervene and separate the men. Sharpe was eventually escorted into the tunnel by arena security where he stayed until the start of the second half of the game.
Following the crazy incident, Sharpe told ESPN during halftime:
“They didn’t want this smoke…They do all that talking and jockeying and I ain’t about that jockeying. It started with Dillon Brooks. I said he was too small to guard LeBron. He said, ‘F**k me.’ I said, ‘F**k you’ back.”
He continued,
“He started to come at me, and I said, ‘You don’t want these problems.’ And then Ja came out of nowhere talking. He definitely didn’t want these problems. Then the dad came and he obviously didn’t want no problems. But I wanted anything they had. Don’t let these fools fool you now.”

Cameras later captured Sharpe and Tee Morant shaking hands and hugging at the end of the third quarter. By the end of the game, the two men hugged it out again and seemingly squashed their beef.
While initially angered by the incident, Shannon Sharpe is now singing a different tune. On Monday’s (Jan. 23) episode of ‘Skip and Shannon: Undisputed,‘ the football legend apologized for his actions. In part, he said,
“I take full responsibility for what transpired. It does not matter what Dillon Brooks said or how many times he said it. Me being the responsible person, me having the platform I have and having so many people look up to me, I was wrong. I should have lowered the temperature in the arena. Instead, I turned the temperature up, and I let it get out of hand.”
