Sadly, today marks three years since Kobe Bryant and his daughter Gianna ‘Gigi’ Bryant passed away.
As previously reported, on January 26, 2020, Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and seven others boarded a helicopter as they were traveling to a basketball game at Mamba Sports Academy. Almost a half-hour into the helicopter ride, the aircraft crashed into the side of a mountain in Calabasas. All nine passengers were killed on impact.
As previously reported, Kobe Bryant’s widow, Vanessa Bryant filed a lawsuit in 2020 against the L.A. County Police Dept. She slammed Los Angeles county with the suit after she reportedly claimed the graphic photos that captured the lifeless bodies of her husband and daughter were passed around by first responders. Allegedly, firemen and law enforcement would later confess to sharing the photos with their associates, casually showing them in places such as a local bar. Vanessa Bryant was ultimately awarded $16 million in the suit.

Vanessa then donated the funds to the Mamba and Mambacita Sports Foundation, a nonprofit that continues Kobe and Gianna’s legacies by presenting opportunities to underprivileged young athletes.
On the anniversary of his death, many fans have been paying their respects and paying tribute to the NBA legend.
One fan wrote,
“Man I can’t believe it’s been 3 years already.. RIP to one of my idols Kobe Bryant. and RIP Gigi”
Another fan shared a heartfelt message about the NBA icon.
“Kobe Changed my life watching him showed me that determination to never quit keep working and to always keep the mamba mentality i personally have a kobe tat and its one of my most meaningful its been 3 years since we lost a legend gone but never forgotten”
