Update: Chris Brown Issues Apology To Pianist Robert Glasper After Shading Him Over Grammy Loss: You Were Not The Intended Target & I Know I Came Off Really Rude & Mean
Update: (Feb. 6, 2023): Looks like Chris Brown has no problem admitting when he is wrong.
After making headlines for seemingly being a sore loser, Brown has issued an apology to Robert Glasper, who defeated the singer at this year’s Grammys for “Best R&B Album.”
Brown shared via his IG Story the heartfelt apology he DM’d Glasper. The Virginia native wrote,
“Congratulations my brother.. I would like to apologize if you took offense to my reaction at the Grammys.. you were not the Intended target and I know I came off really rude and mean. After doing my research I actually think your amazing…”
He continued,
“THE ORGANIZATION ISNT DOING US BLACKS OUR DUE DILIGENCE. YOU AND I SHOULD never be in the Same categor.. two totally different vibes and genres. So from one black man to another. CONGRATULATIONS.. HOPE YOU ARE ABLE TO FEED YOUR FAMILY FOR LIFE. God bless my G”
Glasper has yet to directly address Brown’s initial comments or apology.
Original story: (Feb. 6, 2023): famed pianist Robert Glasper is seemingly taking the high road following slander from Chris ‘Breezy’ Brown over this year’s Grammy Awards.
As you may know, Sunday (Feb. 5) night was the 65th annual Grammy Awards ceremony where some of the biggest artists in music gathered to celebrate their work and achievements. Chris Brown, real name Christopher Maurice Brown, was among the entertainers being recognized and was nominated for “Best R&B Album” for “Breezy (Deluxe)” against Mary J. Blige, Robert Glasper, Lucky Daye, and PJ Morton.
Robert Glasper ultimately took home the award for “Black Radio III,” which seemingly led Chris Brown to go on a heated social media rant.
The “Run It” singer posted a now-deleted screenshot of his google search of Robert Glasper and said:
“BRO WHO THE F*CK IS THIS?”
Robert Glasper’s Wikipedia page describes the 44-year-old to be “an American pianist, record producer, songwriter and musical arranger with a career that bridges several different musical and artistic genres.”
Despite Glasper’s accolades, which include four previous Grammy wins, Chris Brown continued his rant with a follow-up post:
“YALL PLAYING WHO DA F*CK IS THIS?”
The 33-year-old reiterated the question a third time, sharing a meme that read:
“WHO THE F*CK IS ROBERT GLASPER?”
The Virginia native then told his followers he’s “gotta get [his] skills up” and “start playing the harmonica.” The series of Instagram posts continued and he shared a photo of himself playing the instrument. He wrote across the image:
“NEW LEVEL UNLOCKED! HARMONICA BREEZY.”
Throughout Brown’s career, he’s been nominated for 21 Grammy Awards for which he’s taken home only one in 2012 for his R&B album “F.A.M.E.”
Meanwhile, Glasper has been nominated 11 times across eight categories. Glasper was seemingly unbothered by Brown’s comments. Early Monday morning (Feb. 6) Glasper posted a photo on Instagram holding his fifth Grammy award while showing love to the musicians that contributed to his record. In the caption, the Houston native wrote:
“Thank you to all the INCREDIBLE artists and musicians that were apart of this record. And my team Vinnie, Dana, Leandra, Becca, Freda, Shawn, Loma Vista, The Recording Academy, and YOU my fans!! I couldn’t have done this without y’all!”
