Shannon Sharpe Tearfully Says Goodbye During Final Episode Co-Hosting ‘Undisputed’: ‘I Gave You Everything I Had’
Sports personality Shannon Sharpe is moving into his next chapter.
The former NFL star seemingly had the entire “Undisputed” cast and crew emotional as he bid them goodbye following the end of the NBA finals.

Reports that Shannon Sharpe, 54, was leaving the popular sports news program surfaced at the end of last month. Several outlets shared that the media personality reached a deal with FS1, the series’ producer, ending with a buyout of his contract. Sharpe has co-hosted the show since its debut in 2016. Many speculate Sharpe’s decision to exit the series is due to the growing popularity of his self-produced podcast “Club Shay Shay,” as well as (rumored) ongoing tension between him and the show’s main host/creator Skip Bayless, 71.

Back in January, the two got into a heated back-and-forth following the real-time, and very alarming collapse of football player Damar Hamlin during a televised game. After Bayless made an insensitive comment, seemingly suggesting the league should continue the championship series despite Hamlin’s situation, Sharpe urged his co-host to remove the tweet.
Adamant that he didn’t do anything wrong, just his job however, Bayless let the post remain. Sharpe opted not to show up for work the following day, which seemed to have been the icing on the cake after years of explosive disputes.
Despite their differences, it appears the two will certainly miss sharing the spotlight together. Following the conclusion of the NBA finals, Sharpe showed up for his last day on “Undisputed,” giving an emotional thanks to all who supported him throughout his time on the platform. The message to Bayless especially moved Sharpe to tears. With wet eyes, he stated:
“Skip Bayless. You fought for me, brother. I’m here because of you. You’ve allowed me to share the stage with you. You’ve allowed me to share the platform. I’m going to cry in the car, but I’m not going to cry now.”

Adding:
“The opportunity that you gave me, to become what I became, I’m forever indebted to you. I’ll never forget what you did for me. You’ve helped me grow more than you’ll ever know. One more thing before you go, Skip. One more thing. All I ask, is when you lay your head of that pillow at night, know I gave you everything I had. I gave you everything I had.”
Bayless was short of teary eyes as well. Reversely, he thanked Sharpe for his many years of hard work and dedication, sending him off with:
“The greatest compliment I can give you is you were a worthy adversary,”
Sharpe noted that he doesn’t know where just yet, but he does intend to return to sports television.
