Aaron Hernandez’s Brother Arrested Following Standoff w/ Police, Suspected Of Planning School Shootings At Two College Campuses
The brother of late football star Aaron Hernandez is once again in trouble with the police.
According to reports, Dennis ‘D.J.’ Hernandez is behind bars for the 4th time in just a few short months following a string of disturbing actions and an intense standoff with authorities.
Reports state that D.J. Hernandez was detained on July 19th, after several individuals close to the former college athlete expressed concern over his “erratic” behavior. An investigation reportedly uncovered that Hernandez seemed to have been surveying multiple college campuses and recently made threats that he was ready to “take lives.” Police say that text messages recovered as part of the investigation showed Hernandez writing things such as:
“we’re taking lives if s**t isn’t paid up”
And:
“It’s been years in planning just taking notes, names, and location. They talked their way into this and it’s almost point game.”
In the days leading up to his arrest, authorities say that “a woman claiming to be” Hernandez’s ex-girlfriend alleged that he asked to use her vehicle to attend a court hearing on July 7th, but instead visited Brown University and Uconn, the latter of which he’s a former student. Police say another person with knowledge of the situation stated they believe he went there to plan shootings at the locations.
On the day of his arrest, police state they were alerted after D.J. posted “messages with threatening language” to his social media page that read:
“Will I kill? Absolutely, I’ve warned my enemies so pay up front.”
Subsequently, authorities arrived at the home where the former football player was located and tried to detain him. However, police say Hernandez told them he would “kill us all” if they attempted to approach any further. According to the police statement, after a “short” amount of time, D.J. came out of the home with his hands stretched to this side and:
“began yelling shoot me…and disregarded the numerous police commands.”
Reportedly, he was then tased and apprehended before cops took him to a nearby medical facility for evaluation. Upon arriving at the hospital, authorities say Hernandez continued to make threats, specifically geared towards ESPN and “anyone who profited off of his brother Aaron.”
As we reported back in March, this is not the first time D.J. has displayed aggression towards the sports media company. He was arrested at the time for showing up at ESPN headquarters and throwing a brick at the location. It seems D.J. feels the company played a strong role in the demise of his brother, NFL star Aaron Hernandez, who tragically committed suicide in 2017 following a murder conviction in 2015, and on their family.
In a letter attached to the brick he reportedly threw, D.J. signed his name after writing:
“To all media outlets. It’s about time you all realeyes the affect media has on all family members. Since you’re a world wide leader maybe you could lead how media and messages are delivered brick by brick. Clean it up!”
Following that arrest, D.J. was reportedly arrested again after leading police on a car chase later that month, and a third time for missing a court date pertaining to that arrest. Reports note that his most recent arrest resulted in a $250,000 bond, and yet another court appearance set for next week.
