Offset Sued For Allegedly Assaulting A Security Guard

Offset was recently hit with a lawsuit for an incident that took place nearly two years ago.

According to RadarOnline, Offset was sued by a security guard who claimed the 31-year-old rapper assaulted him at ComplexCon. In addition to Offset, the man — named Daveon Clark — also sued fellow rapper YRN Murk. The entertainers reportedly face charges of assault, battery, international infliction of emotional distress, and negligence.

The incident allegedly took place while Clark worked at ComplexCon on November 7, 2021, in Long Beach, California. If you’re unaware, the weekend event is an immersive festival that brings together the most influential brands and artists within pop culture.

According to the lawsuit, Clark was just doing his job as a private security guard at the event when things turned ugly. During the festival, Clark was reportedly told not to let any more guests inside. After being denied entry, YRN Murk allegedly spit on Clark.

While some stepped in to de-escalate the situation by pushing YRN Murk back, Clark said the rapper then punched him. After attempting to defend himself, the guard said that’s when Offset “approached him and struck him.”

Following Offset’s alleged attack, the suit claimed that Clark was quickly punched by another man, who is unknown at this time. Clark said his fellow security guards did little to nothing to stop the altercation but instead,

“exacerbated [Clark’s] position by restraining him; allowing Defendants Offset and YRN Murk to continue their physical attacks while Plaintiff was prevented from protecting himself.”

As a result of the alleged physical attack, Clark said he dealt with serious bodily injuries, medical bill expenses, and mental anguish. The suit seeks unspecified damages, noting that Clark suffered,

“lost earnings and a lost capacity to earn income, and special damages in sum to be proven at trial.”

Offset previously released a statement addressing reports of his alleged involvement in the altercation. He said,

“I wasn’t fighting at ComplexCon. I stepped in to break up a fight caused by a booth’s security. The story is false and overshadows why I’m a regular at ComplexCon. I was there to support the culture and emerging brands and designers. I’m focused on that. I’m in a positive space. Appreciate the concern.”
