Sad news for fans of the hit series “Swarm.”
The show’s star Dominique Fishback has (seemingly) confirmed the hit show won’t return for a second season, however, she’s content with the decision.

During a recent interview, the 32-year-old reportedly explained her stance, stating:
“I’m Okay with that because I feel like the shock factor of the first season really got people — and sometimes when you try to go back in there, I don’t want it to be shock for shock value.”

Adding:
“You want it to really to end on a high.”
Additionally, Fishback reiterated a prior notion from the show’s creators Donald Glover and Janine Nabers, who stated that the project was originally meant to be a limited series. Even with that being the case, it’s no wonder why many have advocated for the gory serial killer drama to return to TV. Upon its initial debut at SXSW back in March of this year, “Swarm” was immediately acclaimed by attendees. The hype upheld following its release on Amazon Prime a week later, prompting many fans to share their thoughts about the toxicity of fan culture, which is a central theme of the series.
The show follows super fan Dre, played by Fishback, who hunts down internet trolls for attacking her favorite music artist Ni’Jah, who’s stardom eerily mirrors super star singer Beyoncé’s. Back in March, Fishback insisted that the show isn’t necessarily about the “Renaissance” artist, specifically. Instead, the project showcases the dark side of fandom as a whole. With a stellar cast that includes the likes of Chloe Bailey, Damson Idris, Paris Jackson, and Billie Eilish in her acting debut, it’s no wonder why fans were enthralled by the series.

The show is currently still streaming on Amazon Prime.
