Jeannie Mai Learned Jeezy Filed For Divorce At The ‘Same Time As The Rest Of The World,’ Says She ‘Was Gutted’
It appears Jeannie Mai wasn’t aware her (estranged) husband Jeezy filed for divorce, despite their marital issues.
During a recent appearance on “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” TV personality Jeannie Mai, 44, opened up about her two-and-a-half-year marriage to rapper Jeezy, 46. In the episode, Mai discussed her public split from the musician, real name Jay Jenkins, calling the breakup a process she’s dealing with “day by day.”
When show host Jennifer Hudson asked Jeannie Mai how she’s been since Jeezy filed for divorce back in October, the former daytime host admitted that she’s doing better than she once was. She then shockingly revealed that she found out about Jeezy filing for divorce when the public did after the unexpected news hit the media.
Mai expressed,
“I think at the time when I found out… you know at the same time as the rest of the world that my marriage was ending in divorce, I was gutted.”
She continued,
“So, yeah. Today it’s about picking up the pieces. It’s about discovering me and being a mom to the best blessing in my life, my little girl.”
Mai added,
“Even though this year I met the most broken version of me, I also met the strongest version of me today.”
The estranged couple have reportedly been in a back-in-forth custody battle over their young daughter Monaco following their separation. Amid Jeezy requesting joint physical custody of the baby in his initial divorce filing, Mai struck back and argued that she should have primary physical custody.
In addition, Mai suggested that her ex owes her a financial payout because the terms of their prenup had allegedly been violated. Her legal team suggested that Jeezy, in some way or another, cheated during their partnership. They reportedly wrote in the court document:
“In the event the Court enforces the terms of said Prenuptial Agreement, Wife further shows that the Court should enforce Paragraph 8 of the Prenuptial Agreement regarding infidelity which provides, in pertinent part, that in the event that either party engages in sexual relations, an emotional relationship, or is emotionally or sexually suggestive in communication with a third party via all forms of electronic communication, including but not limited to, texting, sexting, Facetiming, social media and/or Direct Messages, shall result in a significant financial penalty upon the adulterous party as specified in said Prenuptial Agreement.”
However, according to reports, Jeezy’s legal team adamantly denied her allegations. They wrote in a statement:
“Any claim of infidelity on Mr. Jenkins’ behalf are 100 percent false and we have no further statements at this time.”
