Update#2: (June 26, 2024): New details have surfaced in the murder case involving Remy Ma’s son, Jayson Scott.

According to reports, the 23-year-old was arraigned on Tuesday (June 25) on a seven-count indictment charging him with murder in the first and second degrees, four counts of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree and reckless endangerment in the first degree. As reported, Scott and his associate, Richard Swygert, were allegedly involved in a 2021 murder-for-hire job that occurred in Queens and resulted in the death of 47-year-old Darius Guillebeaux.

Swygert, who was already in custody at the time of Scott’s recent arrest due to his alleged involvement in other murder cases, was also formally charged on Tuesday. Both men are being held without bail. If convicted of the top count, Scott faces up to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Swygert, 22, faces up to 25 years in prison if convicted.

“We stand by Jayson’s innocence and pray that the NYPD will conduct a complete and thorough investigation to reveal the truth. This is undoubtedly a difficult time for my family and me. While we sincerely appreciate the love and support we have received from all of you, we kindly ask for privacy as our legal team works to prove JaySon’s innocence.”

And added,

“As his mother, I want to address this situation personally but have been strongly advised by his legal counsel not to say anything — as most people in similar situations are informed by their attorneys due to it being an active case.”

New York reporter Lisa Evers broke the news, confirming that law enforcement officials detained 23-year-old Jayson Scott as well as 22-year-old Richard Swygert yesterday (Tuesday, June 18th). The two are suspected of carrying out a possible murder-for-hire job in Queens in 2021, that resulted in the shooting death of 47-year-old resident Darius Guillebeaux.

Along with the murder, Jayson Scott and Richard Swygert were also charged with two counts of weapons possession and reckless endangerment. An arraignment is expected to take place sometime today (Wednesday, June 19th). One report notes that months before his death, Darius Guillebeaux was being investigated by the New York Attorney General in connection to a large-scale drug trafficking probe dubbed “Operation Heat Wave.” An indictment stemming from the investigation saw 54 individuals, including Guillebeaux, being charged with funneling heroin, fentanyl, and cocaine to Jefferson County in upstate New York. It is unclear if Scott and Swygert are connected to the crime ring at this time.

Scott mostly refrains from mainstream media, though he has appeared on a few episodes of Love & Hip Hop: New York alongside his famous mother, Grammy-nominated artist and New York native Remy Ma. As you may know, the musician previously served time herself, spending six years behind bars over the near-fatal shooting of a friend outside a Manhattan nightclub in 2007.

It does not appear that Remy, nor her husband Papoose – who is not Scott’s father – has commented on the arrest at this time.
