Amy Robach & T.J. Holmes ‘Desperate For Redemption’ As They Continue To Fight For Their ‘GMA’ Return, Source Says
Looks like former GMA anchors Amy Robach and T.J. Holmes are still hoping to get their previous jobs back.
A source close to the couple shared with In Touch that they’ve been “lobbying hard” to reclaim their old anchor chairs, but are allegedly open to whoever will take them on as a package deal.
As you may recall, Amy Robach, 51, and T.J. Holmes, 46, got the boot from GMA3: What You Need to Know last year after their controversial (alleged) affair made its way to the limelight. While the network confirmed that their relationship didn’t necessarily violate company policy, both were let go because the situation was simply too distracting, as their romance surfaced prior to them legally ending their own separate marriages.
Now, an insider claimed the two are ready to be back on primetime air and have been networking in rooms, scoping out the possibility of them returning to host the show. The source stated:
“They feel they’ve been wronged, but at the same time they’re desperate for redemption…they get a lot of fan letters. That stokes their egos so they’re keeping an eye on all the networks to see who could use a ratings boost.”
Continuing, the source suggested that Amy Robach has been at the forefront leading the charge and is hopeful that a network will hire her and T.J. Holmes together, adding:
“Amy’ll always put her own interests first, but she and T.J. are angling to get hired as a package deal since they love working together. They’re putting the word out, schmoozing with the right people and ready to pounce when the opportunity arises.”
Following their departure from ABC, Robach and Holmes started a podcast together titled Amy & T.J. It appears the show is still releasing new episodes at this time, and the In Touch report noted that the pair also have a news-focused podcast in the works. The source stated about the upcoming venture:
“It’s going great, but nothing would be sweeter to them than getting back to the air in a prime slot and proving the haters wrong,”
It’s also noted in the report that a separate source from GMA allegedly confirmed that there is “zero” chance Robach and Holmes will be asked back at the network.
