Update: Angelina Jolie & Brad Pitt’s Daughter Shiloh Officially Drops Dad’s Last Name
Update: (Aug 19, 2024): Shiloh Jolie-Pitt is now legally recognized as just Shiloh Jolie.
As previously reported, earlier this summer reports broke that the 18-year-old, daughter of Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt, filed court documents to have her famous dad’s surname removed from her name. The request came amid several reports that Brad was in a bad place with all of his children due to the way he allegedly treated them and their Academy Award-winning mother, Angelina, over the years.
Reportedly, Brad blamed his estranged wife for Shiloh’s desire to no longer be associated with him. Unfortunately for The Bullet Train actor, his alleged feelings weren’t enough to stop his daughter from moving forward with the name drop. Newly obtained court documents revealed that Shiloh’s request was granted by the court with no issue.

Original Story: (Jun 4, 2024): It seems actor Brad Pitt is hurt by his daughter Shiloh dropping his surname.
Sources close to the 2x Oscar winner alleged he was “blindsided” by his child’s decision and allegedly blames his ex-wife Angelina Jolie.
If you recall, Brad Pitt, 60, and Angelina Jolie, 49, dated for years but tied the knot in 2014. They were married for two years before the “Tomb Raider” actress filed for divorce in 2016. The couple share 6 children; 3 adopted children Maddox, 22, Zahara, 19, and Pax, 20; and three biological children Shiloh, 18, and twins Knox and Vivienne, 15.
To celebrate turning 18, Shiloh reportedly submitted documents to a courthouse requesting her name to be legally changed from ‘Shiloh Jolie-Pitt‘ to just ‘Shiloh Jolie.’ A source close to Brad Pitt said he was “blindsided” by his daughter’s choice, placing much of the blame on Angelina Jolie. The source stated:
“Brad was blindsided by Shiloh dropping his last name, but he wasn’t surprised…He feels that Angie has slowly but surely turned their kids against him. She absolutely influenced their decisions to distance themselves from their dad.”
They continued:
“Shiloh did not give her dad the heads up about her decision. I mean how could she?…He’s absolutely heartbroken, he’s really hurt because he was closest to Shiloh.”
The source reportedly added that the “Bullet Train” star was “unaware” the relationship between him and Shiloh had changed so drastically and thought they were “on good, solid ground.” However, Shiloh isn’t the first of the Jolie-Pitt clan to make a statement against their dad. As previously covered, Zahara notably introduced herself as ‘Zahara Marley Jolie’ while crossing Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority in November last year.
Reports state that Vivienne also opted to drop the Pitt moniker from her name on the Playbill for a musical she helped mom Angelina Jolie produce called The Outsiders, choosing to go by ‘Vivienne Jolie’ instead of ‘Vivienne Jolie-Pitt.’ Outside of Shiloh, however, it’s unclear whether or not any of the other children has taken up the matter in court.
As you may know, reports that Pitt has a strained relationship with his children began amid his many court battles with his ex Jolie following their divorce. While settling their separation, Jolie accused her former spouse of abusing her and the children in a drunken rage on an airplane, giving her more cause to leave the marriage. The two are now battling it out in court over the stocks to a business they once shared, seemingly causing the children to distance themselves from Pitt even further.
