Former ‘Survivor’ Star Nick Brown Becomes First Black Person Elected Attorney General In Washington
This year’s election continues to be historic as Washington selected their first ever Black attorney general!
Former “Survivor” contestant, Democrat Nick Brown, marked history on November 5th as the state elected him to the position, defeating his Republican rival Pasco Mayor Pete Serrano.
During his watch party on Tuesday, the 47-year-old reportedly vowed to defend “civil rights,” “rights to an abortion,” and “environmental protections,” adding:
“There is so much for me to build upon from the work that [previous AG] Bob and his team have done to defend the rights of Washingtonians…I plan on picking up that baton in the days ahead.”

Brown was a cast member of “Survivor: The Australian Outback” back in 2001, finishing seventh in the competition series’ second season.
In a previous interview with theGrio, Brown shared that while he never set out to be a reality TV star, he believes his time on the show displayed his willingness to “change course and make big decisions,” stating:
“I never aspired to be anything other than what I was on the path to being, but I loved the adventure and the excitement and craziness of doing this reality TV show.”
Congratulations to Attorney General Nick Brown!
