Trump Threatens To Retaliate Against China w/ 50% Tariffs, Warns Of Costly Trade War
President Donald Trump warned that China must withdraw its planned 34% tariff on U.S. goods by April 8 or face an additional 50% U.S. tariff. “Any country that Retaliates against the U.S… will be immediately met with new and substantially higher Tariffs,” he posted on Truth Social.
He declared the new tariff, effective April 9, would be in response to China’s “already long term trading abuses.” Donald Trump also announced “Liberation Day” tariffs on 90 nations.
He said Japan “treated the U.S. very poorly on Trade.” Peter Navarro added, “non-tariff cheating… matters.” U.S. consumers could face $3,789 in added yearly costs.
