NFL Fines Atlanta Falcons $250K Over Shedeur Sanders Prank Call, The Team’s Defensive Coordinator Hit w/ $100K Fine
A prank call to Shedeur Sanders has come back to bite the Atlanta Falcons.
The league has fined the team $250,000 for “failing to prevent the disclosure of confidential information distributed to the club in advance of the NFL Draft,” per NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. Falcons Defensive Coordinator Jeff Ulbrich was also fined $100,000 after the league determined he unknowingly played a role in the breach.
In a statement, the Falcons explained that Jeff’s 21-year-old son, Jax Ulbrich, found Shedeur’s private draft contact number “off an open iPad while visiting his parents’ home and wrote the number down to later conduct a prank call.”

They added,
“We appreciate the NFL’s swift and thorough review… We were proactive in addressing the situation internally and cooperated fully with the league throughout the process, and accept the discipline levied.”
As previously reported, Jax pretended to be with the Saints and called Shedeur on day 2 of the draft. During the call, Shedeur said, “I’ve been waiting on your call,” and Jax replied, “You’ll have to wait a little longer,” leaving Shedeur confused. He later realized it was a prank and noted only NFL coaches had that number.
