Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, has been in custody since 2019. He is accused of killing his close friends and fellow YNW members YNWJuvy and YNWSakchaser. Prosecutors allege that Melly and co-defendant #YNWBortlen staged the scene to make it appear like a drive-by.
Both have pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.
Melly’s first trial ended in a mistrial in July 2023 after jurors could not reach a unanimous decision.
