Kevin Durant Signs Two-Year, $90 Million Extension With Houston Rockets
Kevin Durant is locking in his future with the Houston Rockets.
The 17-season NBA veteran — who joined Houston this summer as part of a historic seven-team trade — has reportedly agreed to a two-year, $90 million extension, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. The new deal ensures the two-time NBA MVP will likely finish his career in Houston.
Durant, who turns 37 in September, has built one of the most decorated resumes in basketball history — 15 All-Star appearances and two NBA Finals MVPs from his championship runs.
Before inking this deal, Durant was on an expiring contract valued at $54.7 million for the 2025–26 season. When he was traded, he was eligible for a two-year, $122 million extension, and could have earned an additional $2 million by waiting six months. But the superstar forward chose stability over maximum money, opting for a $90 million extension instead.
As one of the league’s most accomplished players, Durant appears focused less on contract details and more on ending his career on a high note — chasing another championship with the Rockets, a franchise looking to solidify its return to contention.
