Serena Williams Dodges Questions About Rumored Return To Tennis: I’m Just Going To See What Happens’
Should #SerenaWilliams make a professional tennis comeback?
The legendary athlete may not be entirely finished with the sport. In a newly aired interview on TODAY, Serena was asked whether she’s considering a return to professional tennis. Speculation about a comeback has picked up amid reports that she’s re-entered the drug-testing pool, a common step taken ahead of competition.
Serena, 44, initially played coy, sidestepping the question before anchor Savannah Guthrie pressed her for an answer. Laughing, she responded, “I’m just having fun and enjoying my life right now…. I don’t know, I’m just going to see what happens.” She also made it clear that being a mom to her two daughters is her top priority at the moment.
Serena last competed at the 2022 #USOpen, where she was eliminated in the third round by Australia’s Ajla Tomljanovi?. Meanwhile, her sister #VenusWilliams, 45, who recently married Italian actor Andrea Preti, continues to play professionally.
