Don Lemon Released From Jail Without Bail As He Faces Federal Civil Rights Charges In Church Protest Case
Don Lemon has been released without bail, and his next court appearance is February 9, marking the latest turn in the federal case tied to a Minnesota church protest.
The veteran journalist was indicted on civil rights charges after covering the demonstration at Cities Church in St. Paul. Lemon has maintained, “I’m not here as an activist. I’m here as a journalist.” He also pushed back at critics, saying, “Keep trying. That’s not going to stop me from being a journalist.”
His attorney, Abbe Lowell, said, “Don has been a journalist for 30 years, and his constitutionally protected work in Minneapolis was no different than what he has always done.”
