(EXCLUSIVE) ‘Crazy Sexy Cool’ Screenwriter Demands Pebbles Lawsuit Dismissed
TLC’s ex-manager Pebbles took advantage of the chart-topping girls group and only looked out for herself — so says the screenwriter behind the TV movie who is demanding the $40 million dollar legal battle against her be thrown out, theJasmineBRAND.com exclusively reports.
As previously reported, Perri Reid aka Pebbles – TLC’s former manager – sued Viacom and the writer behind the movie, Kate Lainer, for $40 mill claiming she was defamed by how TV movie “CrazySexyCool: The TLC Story” portrayed her.
Pebbles explained in court documents that the film showed her “as a conniving and dishonest business woman who hoodwinked three innocent girls and exploited their talent for her own personal gain.” Further, she said that contrary to what the film showed, she never controlled TLC’s lawyers and always paid the members appropriately.
Viacom claimed that the portrayal of Pebbles was accurate and they did not act with malice when making the film. They demanded the lawsuit be dismissed.
Then on December 23rd, the screenwriter behind the film, Katie Lainer, fired back at Pebbles.
