NFL Star Antonio Brown Ordered To Pay Sexual Assault Accuser $100K For Violating Confidentiality Agreement
NFL player Antonio Brown has been ordered to pay a woman who accused him of sexual assault $100,000.
According to TMZ, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver will have to pay Britney Taylor the six-figure amount after violating a confidentiality contract. Antonio Brown responded and said he wants the order to be dismissed.
Britney Taylor, who was previously Antonio Brown’s trainer, accused him of rape in 2019, alleging that he sexually assaulted her several times, including one violent incident the year before. After her lawsuit, the two signed a confidentiality agreement in an effort to head toward a settlement.
Brown is being accused of allegedly violating the agreement several times since then and Britney Taylor wants him to pay for it. An arbitrator determined Brown did infringe on the contract when he shared a screenshot of a DM from someone discussing the case in 2019. Because of this, the arbitrator said Brown owes Britney Taylor $100,000.
Brown said he shouldn’t have to pay because the arbitrator didn’t reference the law when rewarding Taylor.
Brown and Taylor met when they were Bible study partners during their days at Central Michigan University in Mt. Pleasant, Mich. They kept in touch and Brown later retained Taylor as his trainer.
Brown’s lawyer Darren Heitner denied the allegations on his behalf.
“Mr. Brown denies each and every allegation in the lawsuit. He will pursue all legal remedies to not only clear his name but to also protect other professional athletes against false accusations.”
He added that they believe the lawsuit is an attempt to extort Brown and that,
“any sexual interaction with Mr. Brown was entirely consensual.”
Taylor also released a statement via her lawyer.
“As a rape victim of Antonio Brown, deciding to speak out has been an incredibly difficult decision. I have found strength in my faith, my family, and from the accounts of other survivors of sexual assault. Speaking out removes the shame that I have felt for the past year and places it on the person responsible for my rape. I will cooperate with the NFL and any other agencies; however, at this time, I respectfully request that the media please respect my privacy.”
