Lil Wayne Offered To Financially Support Police Officer Who Saved His Life After Suicide Attempt
Lil Wayne is intent on repaying the man who saved his life as a child.
Lil Wayne (real name Dwayne Carter Jr.) has been vocal in the past about the impact an ex-New Orleans police officer–“Uncle Bob”–had on him. Last summer, Lil Wayne revealed that his view on the police was different due to what he went through as a child. Specifically, he credits a white cop”Uncle Bob,” for saving his life after attempting suicide at 12 years old. Lil Wayne revealed:
“My life was saved when I was young, I was 12 or something, I shot myself, [and was saved] by a white cop, Uncle Bob. So you have to understand from there for the way I view police period. I was saved by a white cop. There was a bunch of Black cops that jumped over me when they saw me at that door laying on the floor with the hole in my chest. He refused to. Those Black cops jumped over me and ran through the crib and said ‘We found the gun! We found this, we found that!’ He said, ‘I found this baby on this floor, I need to get to the hospital.’ He didn’t wait for an ambulance he took his car, he made somebody drive me. And he made sure that I lived.”
Lil Wayne also spoke on how “Uncle Bob” rescued him during a recent interview, doubling down on his account of how he saved his life while other officers were more focused on searching for drugs and guns.
Now, “Uncle Bob”–whose real name is Robert Hoobler–has revealed that Lil Wayne offered to repay him for saving his life. According to TMZ, Robert Hoobler met up with Lil Wayne two years ago while the rapper was in New Orleans. During their conversation, Lil Wayne allegedly offered to provide Robert Hoobler with financial support whenever he needed it. However, “Uncle Bob” claims he has not taken Lil Wayne up on his offer.
Additionally, when Hoobler was rumored to have passed away back in 2015, Lil Wayne was reportedly preparing to cover his funeral expenses. It is also worth noting that Lil Wayne has explored the idea of having “Uncle Bob” join his team as an administrator.
