Magic Johnson & Kanye West Lose Out On Buying Denver Broncos, Team Sells For Record $4.65 Billion
Unfortunately Kanye “Ye” West, 45, and Magic Johnson, 62, won’t be making the history books this time around as the NFL’s first black team owners.
According to reports, despite their best efforts, Kanye West and Magic Johnson lost the Denver Broncos team to Walmart heir Rob Walton and his family. Reportedly, Walton purchased the NFL team for a record $4.65 billion, which is believed to be the biggest deal for a North American franchise in sports history.
Magic Johnson teamed up with a group of people led by Philadelphia 76ers co-owner Josh Harris, 57, in hopes of taking ownership of the Broncos. It’s unclear how far along their bid made it in the process or why they ultimately didn’t win the team. However, some reports claim that Harris, who has a net worth of roughly $7.57 billion, was prepared to hand over $5 billion for the professional football team.
In March Kanye West’s friend Antonio Brown claimed that the rapper’s Yeezy’s Donda Sports company was “extremely serious” about buying the Broncos. It’s also unclear how far Kanye West made it in the bidding war or if he even attempted to purchase the team as Antonio Brown said.

Walton has a reported net worth of $59 BILLION and will soon be the richest owner in the league. In second place is David Tepper, the owner of the Carolina Panthers, who has a net worth of $16.7. This major sale is expected to be made official in the next few months.
