NFL Star Deshaun Watson Settles With 20 Of The 24 Women Who Accused Him Of Sexual Misconduct: The amounts of the settlements are confidential.
Deshaun Watson agreed to a confidential settlement with 20 of his 24 sexual misconduct accusers.
As previously reported, the Cleveland Browns quarterback faced a number of sexual misconduct allegations in 2021 with several massage therapists and landed himself in multiple lawsuits. Earlier this year, Deshaun Watson was cleared of criminal wrongdoing by two Texas grand juries as the suits were filed in the state.
Since March 2021, 25 lawsuits have been filed against Deshaun Watson, 26, alleging sexual assault and other inappropriate behavior during massage sessions. Of those 25 suits, one was dropped by the plaintiff when the judge ruled her petition had to be amended with her name. According to the plaintiff’s attorney, Tony Buzbee, the other 20 suits have been settled. Buzbee said in a statement:
“Today I announce that all cases against Deshaun Watson, with the exception of four, have settled. We are working through the paperwork related to those settlements. Once we have done so, those particular cases will be dismissed. The terms and amounts of the settlements are confidential. We won’t comment further on the settlements or those cases.”

Tony Buzbee also noted that Ashley Solis– the first woman to file a lawsuit against Deshaun Watson and the first to speak publicly and identify herself as a plaintiff– is not one of the 20 women to settle. He explained,
“Ashley Solis is one of the heroes of this story. Her case has not settled and thus her story and that of the other three brave women will continue. I look forward to trying these cases in due course, consistent with other docket obligations and the court’s schedule.”
Deshaun Watson has repeatedly denied the allegations, which ranged from masturbating in front the women, ejaculating on women and situating himself during the massage to make the masseuse touch his groin area. According to reports, Watson had booked appointments with 66 massage therapists over a 17-month span.
Last week, Deshaun Watson said in a news conference that he has no regrets about any of his actions but admitted that he does regret the impact the allegations have had on the people around him and that he is still in the process of clearing his name. He said,
“I do understand that I do have regrets as far as the impact that [it’s had] on the community and people outside of just myself. And that includes my family. That includes this organization. That includes my teammates in this locker room that have to answer to these questions. That includes the fan base of the Cleveland Browns. That includes males, females, everyone across the, the world. That’s one thing I do regret is the impact that it’s triggered on so many people. It’s tough to have to deal with.”
The accusations stemmed from when Watson was a member of the Houston Texans. He sat out the 2021 season while the lawsuits became public and waited to be traded. The Texans later traded him to the Cleveland Browns in the offseason and he signed a lucrative contract extension simultaneously. The Houston Texans traded Deshaun Watson to the Browns in March in exchange for a package that included three first-round draft picks after the first grand jury announced it would not indict Watson on criminal charges.
