SZA Says That She’s Recorded 100 Songs During The Making Of Her Second Album & That It Could Come ‘Any Day’ Now

It looks like fans won’t have to CTRL their excitement for SZA’s sophomore album much longer.

Recently, SZA was spotted at LAX and gave a brief update on the highly-anticipated, second full-length project that everyone’s been hounding her about for quite some time now.

Although remaining discreet (and seemingly in a hurry), when asked about the date for the forthcoming work, SZA wasted no time saying “any day, any day” and letting it be known that she’s currently sitting on (at least) a whopping total of 100 songs.

According to the St. Louis songstress, the soon-come hits have been produced over a span of five years, which means she has been seemingly working on the follow-up project since the unveiling of her uber-successful debut album, CTRL, back in 2017.

Amid the delay of her sophomore album, SZA recently opened up about the pressure she’s been feeling to create and how it has affected her mentally and emotionally.

The 32-year-old said in an interview,

“I appreciate [my fans] patience, but constantly trying to people-please and fulfill expectations instead of just thinking about what you need can deter you from your true path. And the next thing you know you’re somebody that you never signed up to be. Even with this album, I just wanna be better than my last project to myself. I wanna be a better writer. I wanna be a better artist, musician… a better thinker. I just wanna do things that make myself proud and interested.”

She continued,

“I don’t even know what this album is about and what it sounds like. Which is why I had to go to the mode of what feels good to my brain and to my energy and the songs that I think are hot, I just have to go with them. I have no idea what it sounds like to anybody else. I really don’t know. It’s so bizarre. It’s weird that I can’t put my finger on it. It’s a little bit of everything. It’s a little aggressive. Some parts are incredibly soft. Some of them are ballads. I don’t know. It’s all over the place. It’s just where my heart is.”

However, although it’s been a minute since we’ve gotten an entire masterpiece from SZA, the “Drew Barrymore” singer has continued to stay relevant by dropping viral singles like “Hit Different, “Good Days,” and “I Hate U.”

She’s also gearing up for the release of her music video for “Shirt,” which was teased at the end of her visual for “Good Days” last year.
