Joe Budden Criticizes Drake’s New Album & Says Its “Music For Children” + Rapper Responds, Telling The Podcaster He “Failed At Music” & Suggests He’s Jealous Of His Success
Looks like Drake wasn’t here for Joe Budden’s commentary about his latest music project.
The Canadian rap star didn’t hold back his harsh opinions about the podcast host, and slammed him for being what he deems a musical failure.
It seems the tension after Joe Budden, 43, stated on his podcast that he didn’t approve of Drake’s new album. The project, titled “For All The Dogs”, dropped this past Friday (October) 6th and features artists such as J. Cole, Lil Yatchy, Sexyy Red, and 21 Savage. In a lengthy rant, Joe Budden criticized the record for – in his perspective – only appealing to a younger audience. He stated:
“I miss the Drake that was rapping for the rappers…go find some n***as your f***ing age…get some of that sauce”

He added:
“This is like Yatchy rapping…he rapping for the children…You are 36…get the f**k away from some of these younger n****as and stop f***ing these 25-year-olds…I get it that you appeal to the world…I want to hear adult Drake rapping for adult people”
After the musician heard Budden’s thoughts about him, he took to the comments section with his own lengthy response. Tagging the podcaster, Drake wrote:
“you have failed at music. You left it behind to do what you are doing in this clip cause this is what actually pays your bills. For any artist watching this just remember you are watching a failure give their opinion on his idea of a recipe for success…a quitter give their opinion on how to achieve longevity”
And continued:
“you switched careers cause the things that pop into your brain had you broke living cheque to cheque and the raps you write had 450 men showing up to your shows in dusty Enyce jeans to screw up their face to Mood Muzik 29 and pretend you are the goat…pls to any artist that’s doing what they feel is right don’t let these opinions affect your mindset after the fact…this guy is the poster child of frustration and surrendering. You retired and we never hung up your jersey we don’t even remember your number. We know you for doing this…you withdrew from rap not cause you accomplished all you need to it’s cause it wasn’t working for you. I never want anybody in the generations to think that the whole “everybody’s entitled to their opinion” is a real thing…this is a man projecting his own self hate and the fact I did and continue to do everything he wanted to do for himself. If you need it put in simpler terms I own a 767…he owns a modest house in the 973 and flies first class on special occasions.”
It wasn’t long before Budden responded. Seeming to mostly disregard the Grammy award winner’s perspective about his career and life, he wrote:
“you’ll grow up sooner or later… Father time is undefeated.”
Though Budden doesn’t seem to be a fan of the project, many have discussed the album very likely being at the top of streaming charts in the coming weeks. Drake’s record “Slime You Out” featuring SZA debuted #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 after it dropped late last month. However, as the entire project was just released its a bit too early to tell how it’ll be received and if it’ll land the top spot on the top albums chart.
