Da Band Member Freddy P Says He Left The Group After Diddy Threatened To End His Life
Another of Diddy’s former artists has come forward with serious allegations against the record executive.
During a recently published interview with The Art of Dialogue, Freddy P revealed a scary moment he had with Sean “Diddy” Combs and how it played a huge hand in him stepping away from the limelight. If you had a TV in the early 2000s then you probably saw Freddy P, born Freddrick Watson, prove his talents on the popular MTV reality series “Making the Band.” In addition to creating and turning hip hop group Da Band into a household name, the show is responsible for other (former) mainstream groups such as Danity Kane, Day26, and O-Town.
However, according to Freddy P, a lot went into working with Diddy that the cameras didn’t catch, including the time the music maven threatened his life. He shared,
“One day, I woke up, I’m in a mood. I’m in the studio, I’m snapping or whatever. I didn’t even want to be f*cked with. You know when you around a bunch of goofies and you a street n*gg*, sometimes you don’t want to be around the nerds. … So I’m in that b*tch; I’m just frustrated with a lot of sh*t going on.”
He continued,
“Anyway, we get into a situation. We in front of everybody, n*gg* like, ‘Man, what you think, you bad or something?’ He was like, ‘N*gg*, I’ll buy every house on your block, shut every light off in that b*tch, and every time you come out that b*tch you’ll get popped.'”
Freddy P added,
“When another n*gg* tell you some sh*t like that you be like, ‘Get you animated *ss outta here, goofy *ss.’ When [Diddy] tell you some sh*t like that, you go to picture him purchasing every house, you going to picture every light going off, and that sh*t silenced me.”
Freddy then said the threat from his ex-boss is why he left Da Band and passed on the opportunity to work with Dave Chappelle. You may recall the comic did a comedy sketch for his series “Chappelle’s Show” where he poked fun at Diddy infamously making members of Da Band walk from Midtown Manhattan to Brooklyn to get him a slice of cheesecake.
Diddy has been at the center of multiple sexual assault allegations and lawsuits for months. In March, Homeland Security raided a couple of his properties as part of an ongoing investigation. Elsewhere in the interview, when asked how he feels about the claims surrounding Diddy, Freddy P candidly expressed,
“Honestly, and this ain’t no slight, it’s just I like to see people get they just do. If he was innocent I’d be speaking up like ‘Leave that man alone.’ Because I hate bullies… I don’t feel like he guilty, I just feel like bruh, it’s there. All them people ain’t lying.”
