Former University Of Minnesota Football Player Charles Rogers Identified As Man Who Passed Away During Brooklyn Half Marathon
A man who sadly passed away during the Brooklyn Half Marathon has been identified as former college football player Charles Rogers.
The 31-year-old, who was participating in the popular running event for the first time on Saturday (May 17), collapsed and later died of cardiac arrest, according to reports.
Rogers began his college football journey at Iowa State University in 2012 as a defensive back before transferring to the University of Minnesota in 2015. Following an injury, he switched to Lindenwood University. Both Minnesota and Lindenwood have released tributes honoring his life and legacy.

Multiple fundraisers have been launched in Rogers’ memory. His sister, Tiffany Bass, is organizing a memorial in his hometown of Iowa City, Iowa, and shared on GoFundMe:
“This memorial is for his community, for his true friends and loved ones, and especially for our grieving mother, who has been excluded during the most painful time of her life.”
A separate GoFundMe was created by Rogers’ sister-in-law on behalf of his wife, Sydney.
Our thoughts are with Charles Rogers’ family, friends, and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.
